So, I just watched the last ep of Kamen Rider Double/W.
Because what is the point of living without this show?!?! Ok, there are all the old seasons, and then there's SS, but seriously? This show broke my heart, and then managed to tape it back together again with one of the most heartwarming scenes I have ever witnessed. The reunion between aibous? I was a crying pile of goo on my bed.
But let's back up to where they broke my heart. Shotaro spent most of the last two episodes in tears, first from hopelessly fighting against henshining, and then because he couldn't move on without Phillip. I even felt for Wakana (which I haven't ever since she went evil and broke Phillip's heart) after Shotaro saved her as a promise to Phillip but then accidently broke his promise not to tell her what happened, and do you people see how tragic this episode is yet?! Terui and Shotaro couldn't even look her in the eye, since both of them were crying, and then she screamed... How do the writers expect their viewers to get through the episodes if they're crying so hard they can't see the screen? The worst part for me wasn't even when Shotaro kept waiting for Phillip to do something out of habit, it was the horribly hopeful look on his face when he heard Phillip's voice from inside their apartment, the desperation when he couldn't find him, and the crushing agony when he went into the garage/secret room and touched the last word Phillip wrote which he hadn't erased for a year. Kill me now, KR writers.
But then they gave us what we all were praying and wishing for! Wakana used her power as the Earth's priestess to make Phillip a new body, even though it meant giving up her own. And Phillip had a nice goodbye with the rest of his family... who aren't really evil? They really were hearing the Earth's cries and trying to do something about it? That kind of confused me, but hey! Wakana and Saeko were hugging, and Shroud was reunited with her family, and Phillip was sent back to Shotaro, so I won't overthink it! Now, the reunion scene I mentioned? Amazing. Shotaro screamed and laughed and glomped Phillip, and Phillip hugged him right back, and Ryu and Akiko were hugging and crying, and then everything was all better.
But now they're gone! I'm not sure I can handle that ;_;
I do not have a sufficiently angsty icon for this post (or even a toku one *horror*), so we'll have to go with a nature scene that's... heartbreakingly beautiful?
